Caissons Roll to 5-0, Ranked #1 in Division

1238321_10201483819210058_31062487_n[2]On a very hot day in October, Fishburne Military School traveled to Front Royal, Virginia and defeated Randolph Macon Academy 42-41 in overtime. It was a very competitive and hard fought football game and the Caissons prevailed. The “player of game” is the offensive line and a game ball will be awarded to Antwan Brown and Drake Hansen for their efforts.

With four minutes remaining in the game, the Caissons trailed by fourteen points. Robert Smith made two big plays and the offense converted a two point conversion to tie the game and put it into overtime. In overtime, RMA scored first and made the extra point making the score 41-34. Fishburne was able to make a 4th down play for a touchdown and convert the two point conversion for the victory. On the winning play, the Caissons gave the ball to Smith, who was escorted by Conner Morris, Levi Reilly, Antwan Brown, Drake Hansen, Essan Flanagan, Anthony Starks, Jeff Frye, Preston Scantlebury, and Russell Holland for the score.

On the day, Smith scored four touchdowns and the two point conversion. Hunter Couchot was credited for throwing two touchdown passes and Jon Ross contributed with a touchdown and a two point conversion to round out the scoring for the offense. On defense, Raekwon Burnette, intercepted a pass and returned it for a touchdown as well as blocking a punt. Bobby Goetz is also credited with a pass interception that made a difference in the game.

The Caissons travel to rival Massanutten Military Academy next weekend for a Saturday game.
