The John T Hardy Legacy Club
The Board of Trustees of the Fishburne-Hudgins Educational Foundation, Inc., recognizing the need to secure the future of the school, has established The John T. Hardy Legacy Club. By establishing this club, we encourage the constituents of the school to make a commitment of a bequest or other type of planned gift to the school.
Bequest – Gifts to Fishburne Military School in a donor’s will or revocable trust can escape estate tax at the donor’s death and greatly benefit the future of Fishburne.
Gift of Appreciated Securities (Stocks, Bonds, Mutual Funds) – Owners of appreciated securities can obtain substantial tax benefits by transferring such securities directly to Fishburne. First, donors will receive an income tax deduction equal to the fair market value of the security on the effective date of their gift. In addition, they avoid capital gains tax on the transfer.
Gift of Life Insurance – Donors often overlook gifts of life insurance policies, even though these may produce a substantial income tax deduction. The gift of a paid-up policy – one for which no premium remains – usually yields a deduction for its replacement value. If premiums remain to be paid and the donor continues to pay them, the donor receives an income tax deduction for those payments.
