9/11 Remembered
On September 11, 2011 we remember that horrid day ten years ago. The 9/11 attacks were a cowardly attack on civilians, and were an attempt to bring a way of life down. Ten years later we remember this date, and prove to the world that our way of life is not going anywhere.
To remember those who lost their lives trying to save others, or those who died trying to escape the burning buildings, we held a pass and review, followed by a candlelight vigil. Waynesboro PD and Waynesboro FD were both there along with Waynesboro paramedics. Guest speakers’ speeches were all extremely heartfelt and came from experience. Many told their own perspectives on that fateful day. Most cited the quote that has found its place next to this day, “Never forget.” It is important that although everyone says “9/11 never forget,” Fishburne Military School truly has not forgotten, and continues to honor the fallen.
After the pass and review, Fishburne Cadets and Citizens of Waynesboro participated in a candle night vigil. The event was beautiful, in the sense that so many had come out to remember those who lost their lives, and thank those who rushed in to help others.
