Tyler Dolin Leads Eight Caissons with All-State Honors
To go along with their inaugural Patriot Military School Conference Championship, the Fishburne Caissons had eight players recieve all-state honors for VISAA Division II.

Joseph Palermo, a 25-year FBI veteran and grandfather of Fishburne cadet Robert Palermo (Natural Bridge, VA), took time on Wednesday to speak with the Fishburne corps about careers with FBI. Palermo pointed out that many of the characteristics the FBI is looking for are values instilled in cadets at Fishburne. By being at Fishburne “you are already above the norm,” he noted.

The Raider team competed as 2- four man teams, “A” team was led by Wren-Russ and the “B”team by Dixon. The FMS “A” team placed first overall. They won the Rope Bridge, Litter Carry, and Tire Flip. They were second in the PT Test, Bus Pull and 5K Road March.The “B” team placed third in the Rope Bridge.

Back in the ‘70s, Ed Rogerville would have been on enemy territory at Fishburne Military School. A 1976 graduate of Augusta Military Academy, Rogerville wouldn’t have guessed back then that he would be walking the grounds of the one military school in Augusta County that would survive the decade. Now with his son having matriculated at Fishburne, Ed Rogerville finds himself on the friendly side of the rivalry.

293 runners representing more than 30 teams competed in the Division 2 (schools with 160 or less HS males) on Friday at Fork Union.

Battalion Commander Brian Draper (Washington, DC) was honored by the DC Federation of Civic Associations this year. Draper was selected to receive the 2015 George H. Richardson Outstanding Leadership in the Field of Civil Rights Award.

After two days of cold rain, the clouds broke on Wednesday and Fishburne Military School honored Veterans Day under brilliant sunshine. Guest speaker COL William J. Coffin, commander of the 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team of the Army National Guard, reminded the Corps of the importance of family, because “Soldiers never go to battle alone. Without the support of our families, we would never succeed.”

The final, and most prestigious, award of the evening, The James G. Hogg Award, was presented to Cadet Min Chang Kang. The Hogg Award is presented three times per year to the cadet-athlete that best embodies the ideals of athletic and academic excellence.

The Fishburne Military School JROTC Drill Teams put on a stellar performance on Thursday at the Greenbrier West Drill Competition in Lewisburg, WV. The Caissons took 1st place overall in the competition; earning 1st-place trophies for individual performance, Color Gaurd, and Squad while securing 2nd place for Platoon. The Caissons are hoping to earn a 2nd-consecutive invitation to 4th Brigade’s “Best of the Best” competition.

Fishburne will finish 5th in the state this year, one spot out of the state tournament. Bishop Sullivan pulled the upset in dramatic fashion, defeating Norfolk Academy 48-22, to take the final spot.
