Two Juniors and one Senior from Fishburne Military School will be gaining some valuable skills and insights this week in Blacksburg, VA. Each year, the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets invites the senior military colleges, military academies, and high school military academies in Virginia to their Leadership Conference. This is the fourth year that Fishburne Military School has participated in this event.

The Fishburne Military School Caissons Baseball team traveled to Lynchburg yesterday to play its season opener against Holy Cross. The Caissons put together a great team effort to top the Gaels by a score of 18-1. Cadet Grant Miezis (Olney, MD) put in an outstanding performance, pitching all five innings and giving up only one hit.

US Army Cadet Command’s 4th Brigade officially announced that the Fishburne Military School Raiders will compete in the Brigade Championships hosted at UNC Charlotte. The Championships, dubbed “Best of the Best”, are tentatively scheduled for April 26, 2015 and will pit the top 11 Raider teams from North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and Washington, DC.

Fishburne Military School (VA) announced its popular “Spring Success” program for 2015. “Spring Success” was developed several years ago in order to aid students who have fallen behind on studies in their current schools and need an immediate change of program in order to salvage their academic year.

Cadet Hunter Jennings, a Senior from Riva, MD, has been selected as a contestant in this year’s JROTC National Essay Contest. Cadet Jennings’ essay was selected from among all the 4th Brigade’s entries and is now on its way to the JROTC National Essay Contest judges. 4th Brigade, in which Fishburne’s Corps of Cadets operates, consists of 318 schools throughout West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

The Fishburne Military School Caissons gathered last night in Lawton Chapel to celebrate the achievements of FMS’ winter athletics teams. MAJ Bryan Greene (VA), began the evening by thanking the coaching staff, athletes and those who came out in support of the teams, noting “the purpose of this banquet is to recognize those who stuck with their teams and refused to quit. The refusal to quit is a characteristic we should all respect.”
