#2 Fishburne postgrad basketball holds off #10 Massanutten, 85-81
Tre Harris hit a tie-breaking three with 1:13 to go, and second-ranked Fishburne held on in the final minute to post an 85-81 win over #10 Massanutten Thursday night in Waynesboro.

Fishburne Military School (Waynesboro, VA) Cadets are going supersonic this weekend as members of the new Rocketry Club put weeks of hard work to the test in Monterey, VA. The team will be launching three rockets from the Valley AeroSpace Team’s (VAST) site in an effort to qualify for competitive launches in March.

The Fishburne Military School postgrad basketball team, currently ranked #2 in the nation in the NextUp Top 10, topped the Lancers of St. John’s Northwestern Military Academy 81-64 Monday night in Waynesboro.

Fishburne jumped out to an early 23-10 lead in the first half and never looked back in their Friday afternoon game against Holy Cross. The Caissons were led by Robert Smith who had all 20 of his points in the first half. Fishburne’s Varsity team will take to their home floor again on Monday at 4:30.

The Caissons took home a total of 13 medals (having only entered 13 boys) and were presented with the over-all Team Championship. Fishburne now holds a team record of 17 – 1 for the season. Their only loss came in the season opener and now the Caissons have reeled off 17 straight wins. Next up: the Caissons travel to Roanoke Catholic on Tues, 28 Jan.

Fishburne Military School’s banner year in football has gotten notice state-wide. The Virginia Independent Schools Athletics Association (VISAA) has named eight Cadets from FMS to their All-State team for 2013-2014. All-State ballots are cast by high school coaches from around the league with highest honors going to those named 1st Team All-State student athletes.

The team would walk out of the gym taking with them the Team Second Place Award (falling only behind the host school, Wilson Memorial) along with 8 place-winners.

Fishburne Military School pulled together to stop the Celtics of Roanoke Catholic by 4 on Thursday afternoon in Waynesboro, Virginia. The Caissons led wire to wire, by as many as 13 at one point, but Roanoke Catholic’s three point shooters kept things close.

Fishburne Military School’s wrestling team advanced their season’s undefeated streak by sweeping a conference quad meet last night. The evening brought a full-on battle between FMS, Blue Ridge, Covenant and Miller School.
