Fishburne Military School rallied from a 14-point first-half deficit to lead by as many as 21, then held off a furious Hargrave Military Academy rally to win 109-102 in postgrad basketball action Wednesday night in Waynesboro.

The Caissons Rolled again last night. As the team made the 1 hour trip over to The Blue Ridge School, they stepped up and did an outstanding job scoring a 66 – 12 victory against another VIC team.

Fishburne postgrads lead hoops clinic at Waynesboro YMCA

Ed Huckaby learned basketball as a youngster at skills camps at YMCAs and Boys Clubs. “I started out playing that way, watching Walt Frazier and those guys play when I was a kid, pretending that I was them,” said Huckaby, the head coach of the nationally ranked Fishburne Military School postgrad basketball program.

The voice in their head: Chiarolanzio builds a wrestling winner at Fishburne

Novak Porter was a freshman at Fishburne Military School in search of a winter sport. He tried basketball, but decided quickly that wasn’t for him. Then he ran into the man known around campus as Coach C. “I said, Coach C, tell me about wrestling. He said, Porter, I’ll tell you right now. It’s a sport that will kick your butt,” said Porter, now a senior and four-year member of the FMS wrestling program. It’s with that sales pitch, repeated over and over, that Coach C, aka Rich Chiarolanzio, has turned the Fishburne program into one of the top wrestling programs in the state of Virginia.

FMS breaks open close game with big run, rolls past New River, 115-81

A 26-3 Fishburne run broke open a close game, and the Caisson postgrads sailed from there to a 115-81 win over New River Community College on Sunday.

Caissons Swimmers Undefeated at Home

It was a battle between military schools and once again the swim team from Fishburne Military School crushed our rivals Massanutten, continuing to be undefeated at home since the pool was refurbished 2 years ago. Fishburne kept Massanutten from placing first in all but one event. The final score was a whopping 64-12.

The clinic went off well, with the Caissons working with more than 50 Y youth-basketball players in a two-hour session. That was it as far as obligations go. Even Huckaby was pleasantly surprised to hear from a group of players on Thursday that they were planning to head back to the Y to help out with scheduled youth-hoops games at the Y.

FMS Reinstitutes Thursday Chapel Meetings — Superintendent Stresses Fishburne Brotherhood

Yesterday, Fishburne Military School’s Superintendent, COL Gary R. Morrison (VA) ’81, convened the Corps for the first of what will be a continuing series of meetings. The all-Corps meeting marked the reinstitution of a long-time tradition at Fishburne Military School in which the entire Corps comes together weekly to discuss relevant issues.
