The Fishburne Caissons are the defending state champions, having clinched their second-straight state championship last February by defeating Massanutten Military Academy (Woodstock, VA). That was their sixth state title since 1999.

Rifle Team coach, MAJ Brandon Mawyer (VA) was enthused by the team’s strong performance so early in the season. “To say that our team won is an understatement, they DOMINATED! This being a rebuilding year for our team, we showed strong numbers from returners and new shooters,” Mawyer noted.

Returning FMS marksmen Joshua Beard (Aguila, AZ) and Luciano Dolfi (Stuarts Draft, VA) both scored at the top along with new shooters Timothy Betoni (Falls Church, VA) and Kihoon Kim (Korea). Other Fishburne shooters contributing to the victory were: Stacy Wood (Waynesboro, VA); Kyle Churchwell (Herndon, VA); Joaquin Martinez (Monterrey, Mexico); and Tyler Stiles (Williamsburg, VA).

Fishburne Military School is the oldest and smallest of all military schools for boys in Virginia. Its college-prep curriculum is built upon the structure of an Army JROTC program. FMS is designated as a JROTC Honor Unit with Distinction and may nominate qualified candidates to the United States Service Academies. Fishburne hosts one of only four Summer JROTC programs in the nation, accredited by US Army Cadet Command.
