Spencer Parker: Opportunity

Spencer Parker boiled his year at Fishburne Military School down to one word.

“The one word I would use is opportunity,” said Parker, a 6’7″, 190-pound swingman who signed with Bowling Green.

The Fishburne postgrad program, Parker said, “provided me with a lot of opportunities, academically and athletically. I get to go to a school of my dreams.”

Bowling Green coach Louis Orr is looking forward to having the versatile Parker on the court this season.

“Spencer’s size, length, athleticism and skill give him the ability to play multiple positions,” said Orr, in his sixth season at Bowling Green after stints at Siena and Seton Hall.

Parker “is a very good shooter who can stretch the defense,” Orr said. “He has very good ball skills and is very good in the open court. Spencer knows how to score and create for himself and his teammates. Defensively, he gets his hands on a lot of balls and is a very good rebounder. He is a versatile player who can positively influence the game in many different ways. We are excited about Spencer’s versatility and his basketball ability.”

For Parker, his focus is on working to create more opportunities for himself as he gets ready for life in D1.

“I’m looking to start next year. That’s what I’m working towards. Hopefully we can make it to the NCAA Tournament. That’s another thing I’m working toward,” Parker said.
