Six Fishburne Military School Wrestlers Ranked in State

Caissons finish 4th at the VISAA State Duals Championships

Richmond, VA –  The Fishburne Military School Wrestling Team traveled to Richmond, VA to battle some of the best private schools in VA. The Caissons represented themselves and their schoolFishburne Military School Wrestling takes 4th in VISAA well, gritting their way through the field to a 4th Place finish.

Leading the charge for Fishburne Miliary School was senior Tyler Allen (Weyers Cave, VA) who went undefeated on the day. Allen ranked 5th in the sate as the tournament began and he opened up the day with an impressive 9-0 victory over the state’s 4th-ranked wrestler from St Christopher School.

The Caissons would go on the win three straight with Allen again leading the way when won by a 5-4 decision over the state’s 3rd-ranked competitor from Paul VI. Junior Mathew Farrar (Waynesboro, VA) was right behind, going 4-1 on the day. Farrar, who was ranked 4th in the state entering the tournament, lost to St Christopher’s #1-ranked wrestler before winning his last 4 matches by pin,  including 2 matches against state-ranked wrestlers.

Newly transferred heavyweight Silvio Dionisotti (Sudbury, MA) made his debut for the Casissons during a second-round match in which he pinned the 7th-ranked wrestler in the state from Paul VI. Silvio went on to defeat Ireton’s 6th-ranked competitor and to finish 4-0 on the day.

The Caissons, in bouncing back from an opening round loss, went on to defeat Collegiate 60-24, Woodberry Forrest 45-30 and  Paul VI 45-35. In the consolation championship match the Caissons from Fishburne Military School eventually fell to Bishop Ireton.

Fishburne Coach Terry Waters noted, “The kids wrestled well on the day, we simply lost focus in the last match; but I couldn’t be prouder at how our guys responded to the opening round loss.”

Currently, The Caissons have 6 wrestlers ranked in the state, Fishburne is back in action Saturday, Feb 11th, when they travel to Roanoke Catholic for the VIC Championships.

7th – Jacob Randall (195 lbs. Stafford, VA)
7th – Jacob Fincham (120 lbs. Fredericksburg, VA)


Fishburne Military School is the oldest and smallest of all military schools for boys in Virginia. Its college-prep curriculum is built upon the structure of an Army JROTC program. FMS is designated as a JROTC Honor Unit with Distinction and may nominate qualified candidates to the United States Service Academies. Fishburne hosts one of only four Summer JROTC programs in the nation, accredited by US Army Cadet Command.
