Lamell Washington (6’7”, 215, Frederick, Md.) is ready to get to work.

“What aren’t we doing is the question,” said Washington before a recent practice with the Fishburne Military School postgrad team. “We’re in the gym twice a day, lifting every day. I’ve put on more weight since I’ve been here than ever before, and I’ve been here a week. Everything is looking up from here on out.”

Washington was one of the top unsigned players from the Maryland-D.C.-Northern Virginia area in 2013. He’s working hard to make a good impression on the college coaches who routinely take in FMS practices and early-season games.

His first impression of his new school: “It’s a great first impression.”

“We’ve got a lot of great guys out here,” Washington said. “I’m really optimistic about this season. We’ve got a great coach and a great coaching staff, and we’re here every day working. So I feel really good about this season.”
