JROTC continues summer training
Alpha, Bravo and Charlie companies in the Fishburne Military School JROTC program continued their round-robin training this week.
This week Alpha participated in jiu-jitsu. Bravo was required to cross an obstacle and rappel. Charlie was out in the woods on the orienteering coarse.
1st Sgt. Mc Intire had this to say of Alpha Company: “They’re maintaining good focus, they’re eager to grapple, but it’s about mastering the basics before you can become a great grappler.”
Bravo Company was required to use one rope to cross an obstacle and rappel from the side of the school. The way it works is the cadets are given a task such as crossing a fast-moving river, and they must work as a team to overcome the obstacle and get to the other side safely they are also timed in doing this.
“They’re doing really well, one squad completed the whole course in 5:54 seconds which is great,” said Sgt. O’Keefe.
They also go to the top of the roof and strap in, turn around and rappel down the wall. The cadets really enjoyed this.
“It’s really fun; it’s something I would have never experienced had I not come to Fishburne “said Cadet Capt. Nichols.
