Fishburne’s Bats Wake Up at Blue Ridge

Waynesboro, VA — Fishburne Military School’s Baseball team jumped out to an early lead on Blue Ridge School and captured a 19-7 victory on Monday in St. George, VA. Fourteen runs in the first three innings allowed the Caissons from Waynesboro, VA to put the game away early.
Two errors during the first inning, a sacrifice fly by Calen Owens (sophomore, Fishersville, VA), an RBI single by Jacob Harrison (junior, Boulder, CO), a walk by Treavor Norman (junior, Waynesboro, VA), an RBI single by Quasean Napier (junior, Waynesboro, VA), an RBI single by Tyree Scott (sophomore, Staunton, VA), an RBI single by Carter Marshall (senior, Charlottesville, VA), a walk by David Morin (freshman, Weyers Cave, VA), a bases loaded walk to Harrison, and a sacrifice fly by Norman in the second inning fueled Fishburne Military Varsity’s offense early.
Norman racked up three RBIs on two hits for Fishburne Military Varsity.
Fishburne Military School easily handled Blue Ridge School’s pitching as seven hitters combined for 11 hits, 14 RBIs and 15 runs scored in the first few innings.
After posting two runs in the third, the Caissons again scored two in the fourth. In the third, Fishburne scored on a two-run single by Morin, who brought home Timothy Arndt (sophomore, Fairfax Station, VA) and Scott.
Fishburne Military School Baseball will be back in action on April 17th at 7pm when they face Massanutten Academy (Woodstock, VA) at the Stuart’s Draft Diamond Club, Stuart’s Draft, VA.
Fishburne Military School is the oldest and smallest of all military schools for boys in Virginia. Its college-prep curriculum is built upon the structure of an Army JROTC program. Boasting a 100% college-acceptance rate for the past 10 consecutive years, FMS has also been designated as a JROTC Honor Unit with Distinction and may nominate qualified candidates to the United States Service Academics. Fishburne hosts one of only four Summer JROTC programs in the nation, accredited by US Army Cadet Command.
