Fishburne postgrad basketball improves to 2-0 with 114-88 win over Virginia Tech JV team

The Virginia Tech JV team hung around for a while with success at the free-throw line, but the Fishburne Military School postgrad basketball team pulled away in the second half to post a 114-88 win on Sunday in Waynesboro, Va.

The Tech JVs closed to 59-50 at the half with a 14-for-18 showing at the charity stripe, but the Caissons (2-0) clamped down on defense in the second half to wear the Hokies down.

“I thought we put them on the line too much as well as missing some defensive assignments I like our effort and we will improve as this team goes forward. Our key guys need to become more consistent in our execution,” FMS coach Ed Huckaby said.

Stanley Christian (6’7”, 200, Norfolk, Va.) led the way for Fishburne with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Jeremy Harris (6’7”, 185, Greensboro, N.C.) chipped in with 18 points and 7 rebounds. The Caissons’ next home game will Saturday when they host New River CC at 3 p.m.
