Fishburne Military School Cross Country

The Fishburne Military School Cross Country Team is off to another outstanding start.

Recap by Coach Woods

On Friday, the Fishburne Military School Cross Country team finished 2nd at the Miller School Invitational in Crozet, Virginia.  The cross country team was missing its 2nd, 4th, and 5th runners due to PMW activities which meant other runners needed to step up and they did.

In a field of 47 runners , Senior Hunter Jennings finished in 4th place  (19:28).  Sophomore Solomon Adams finished 5th (19:53) ; Junior Brian Draper finished 13th (21:36) , Sophomore Thomas Cantwell finished 14th (21:43); Sophomore Evan LaQuaglia finished in 17th place (21:50); and Sophomore Nicholas Rehmann finished in 18th (21:57).

Six Caissons would run their best times of the season on a tough course featuring a hill a mile long:  Cantwell (-0:10); Duffield (-1:23); Hancock (-3:36); Kinnard (-1:30); LaQuaglia (-4:23); Rehmann (-0:02).

The Caissons will be back in full-force at their home course on Tuesday, October 14th at Coyner Springs.

Despite not having our full team, these young men ran extremely well on a tough course.  It would have been nice to beat Miller School, the fourth-place state finisher last year and a team we beat last Tuesday at STAB.  However, we were successful in beating VIC-foe Hargrave Military Academy.  Now we just have to refocus here this week and to defend our home course on Tuesday.

Fishburne Military School is the oldest and smallest of all military schools for boys in Virginia. Its college-prep curriculum is built upon the structure of an Army JROTC program. Boasting a 100% college-acceptance rate for the past 10 consecutive years, FMS has also been designated as a JROTC Honor Unit with Distinction and may nominate qualified candidates to the United States Service Academics. Fishburne hosts one of only four Summer JROTC programs in the nation, accredited by US Army Cadet Command. For more information visit www.fishburne.org.
