Fishburne Cross Country Looking Strong
Charlottesville — The Fishburne Military School Cross Country runners traveled to Covenant School yesterday for the Covenant School Invitational 5K. The Caissons finished tied for fifth with Middleburg Academy, ahead of Benedectine, Regents and Eastern Mennonite. Covenant School took top honors followed by Miller School, Blue Ridge, and Hargrave.
Freshman Garrett Rose (Columbus, IN) lead the Caisson runners to finish 18th, followed by junior Matthew Farrar (Waynesboro, VA) in 21st. Xiaoyou Chen (Wuhan, China), Jesse Jungman (Escondido, CA), Hunter Wren-Russ (Tehachapi , CA), Justin Payne (Waynesboro, VA) and Jacob Randall (Stafford, VA) rounded out the scoring seven.
Seventh grader Elijah Jackson (Warsaw, VA) took second place in the JV race which was 3K in length. He posted a time of 11:43 which had a 6:31 per mile pace.
The Caissons will be back in action on October 29th for the Virginia Independent Conference Cross Country Championships at Blue Ridge School.
Fishburne Military School is the oldest and smallest of all military schools for boys in Virginia. Its college-prep curriculum is built upon the structure of an Army JROTC program. FMS is designated as a JROTC Honor Unit with Distinction and may nominate qualified candidates to the United States Service Academies. Fishburne hosts one of only four Summer JROTC programs in the nation, accredited by US Army Cadet Command.
