Ernest McGill has worked in high school and the NBA. And now McGill is in Waynesboro learning under Fishburne Military School postgrad basketball coach Ed Huckaby.

“Me being a young coach, and this being my first full-time coaching job, I think it’s a really good experience for me to build and learn from a nationally-known coach. He’s been at the Division I level, he’s been with ESPN as an analyst. Why not learn from the best?” said McGill, who comes to FMS from his most recent job with the NBA’s Charlotte Bobcats, where McGill worked in player development and basketball operations.

At Fishburne, McGill will focus on working with Caisson guards and with the whole team in the area of strength and conditioning.

He feels he can share what he learned working last year in the NBA with the postgrads at Fishburne.

“This isn’t a regular high school or prep school. This is the best of the best. The things that I’ve learned can relate 100 percent to these guys,” McGill said.
