Dual meet, Hargrave Military Acad. vs. Fishburne Military School

Neither heat nor hills, nor Hargrave’s home-course advantage could stop the Caisson harriers as they rolled past the Hargrave Tigers. With a very close score of 27 to 29 it came down to the final sprints of 2 key cadets who held off a late Hargrave charge at the finish line. Sophomore Avery Romp, who lead the race from the start, out-sprinted a final push by the second place finisher from Hargrave. Senior James Kelley shouted encouragement just behind them while finishing a close third. Evan LaQuaglia fended off a late Tiger rush to finish 7th. Logan Thorp continued his improvement with a strong 5th place finish. Cody Chapple in his first appearance in the scoring five, finished 11th.

All the cadets’ 2 mile split times improved, but the long “heartbreak hill” on the final mile proved costly. Despite this, James Kelley had a personal best for the season. His hard work in practice is paying big dividends. That final mile and the endurance to tame it will be the challenge for the season going forward.
