Fishburne Military School Wrestlers Refuse to Take Weekend Off
Next up for the Caissons is another round of conference duals with VES, Hargrave, Miller, and Roanoke Catholic on Tuesday. The team will try to claim the conference regular season championship for the second year in a row. Matches are slated to begin at 5pm in the gymnasium in Fishburne Military School’s Alumni Memorial Hall.

Of the nine Fishburne Military School wrestlers traveling to Virginia High School, five went undefeated on Friday, earning spots in Saturday’s quarterfinals, Logan Shiflett (Stuarts Draft, VA), Levi Smith (Fayetteville, NC), Jacob Fincham (Fredericksburg, VA), Matthew Farrar (Waynesboro, VA), and Silvio Dionisotti (Sudbury, MA). On Saturday morning, Smith, Farrar, and Dionisotti all advanced to the semifinal round.

“The kids wrestled hard after the first round, I don’t know, overall we had a poor first round, maybe it was jitters of a strange place, but they settled down and wrestled well the rest of the way. The competition was tough, but everything we do now, is geared to the end result in February.” Waters said of his team’s overall performance.

The Fishburne Military School (Waynesboro, VA) swim team traveled to Lynchburg this weekend for their opening meet of the season on Friday night. It was a great day to be a Fishburne Military School Caisson at the VIC Conference XC meet on Saturday. Almost every runner posted their fastest 1 mile split on the Humankind Course (Old Presbyterian Home campus). Some cadets continued their overall time improvement as well, with 8th grader Justin Hill and 7th grader Ian Clardy earning season personal records (PR’s).

Waynesboro, VA — Fishburne Military School Varsity Soccer (4-10-0) played a triad of matches this week: two away and one at home. The week’s matches started by travelling to Lynchburg on Tuesday, October 17th to play Holy Cross on a short, uneven pitch on a comfortable and cool afternoon. The season final against Hargrave–home at Anderson Field–remains to be played on Thursday, October 26th.

Coyner Springs Park, Waynesboro, VA– It was a perfect day to run a race and many Fishburne Military School Caissons Cross Country runners took advantage of the cooler temperatures to post improved times for the season. With a field of 105 runners, Sophomore Garrett Rose (Columbus, IN) again led the team. Fishburne’s next meet is next Saturday in Lynchburg for the VIC Conference meet.

Waynesboro, VA — Fishburne Military School Cross Country’s 7th- and 8th-graders made the trek across town as Kate Collins Middle School hosted 81 runners in a XC meet for Middle Schoolers. Eighth grader Justin Hill (St. Augustine, FL) medaled in the event ,.. the next Caissons runner to finish was 7th grader, Ian Clardy (Arlington, VA), who earned a personal record.
