Fishburne Military School LAX Shows Skill and Sportsmanship
Waynesboro, VA – The Fishburne Military School Caissons Lacrosse team kicked off a busy and promising week last Tuesday when they traveled to Woodstock, VA to face Massanutten Military Academy. The Caissons next hosted two local regional lacrosse clubs at Anderson Field. The Caissons ended the week with three solid victories.

Waynesboro, VA — The Fishburne Military School Lacrosse team kicked off their season last week with a pair of games against tough rivals. It was a young Caissons squad that took the field on Tuesday, as the Caissons faced Roanoke Catholic in a light drizzle with the temperature hovering just below forty.

Waynesboro, VA — As the three-time defending state champion the Caissons of FMS hosted the Virginia Military School Rifle League championships at the indoor range on Fishburne’s Waynesboro campus. Although the Caissons worked extremely hard over the weeks building up to the championships, the challengers from Massanutten Academy came up with the winning hand this year.

Three times each school year the Fishburne Military School Caissons come together in Lawton Chapel to celebrate the successes of their athletic teams and to recognize individual efforts and achievements. The awards presentations are then followed by a special dinner prepared for the athletes. Cadet Matthew Farrar ’18 (Waynesboro, VA) was presented with the Hogg Award.

Waynesboro, VA — No matter what, Fishburne Military School Cadet and stand-out wrestler Matthew Farrar (Waynesboro, VA) will end his high school career with a coveted State Championship and the title VISAA Lightweight Wrestler of the Year. Now he’s on to Nationals. Joining Farrar at Nationals will be fellow Fishburne Cadets Levi Smith (Fayetteville, NC) and Silvio Dionisotti (Sudbury, MA).

Fishburne Military School Wrestling finished another strong conference appearance by taking 2nd place in VIC and sending nine to the State Championships. Last year the Caissons went on to a top-10 performance in the state tournament and were the highest finishing DII school in Virginia. FMS will send nine wrestlers to the state tournament at Woodberry Forest in Orange, VA this Friday and Saturday.

The Fishburne Military School Wrestling Team traveled to St. Christopher’s School for the Virginia Prep Duals. Coach Terry Waters’ resilient squad battled back on Saturday to take 6th place overall without their full roster. The Caissons gave up 24 points by not filling all of the weight classes, those points were the difference between sixth and third.

The Fishburne Military School Wrestling team dropped two matches (Hargrave and Roanoke Catholic) Wednesday night. Hampered by injuries and breakdowns in discipline and “mat-smartness”, the Caissons learned some valuable lessons which they hope to turn into medals by season’s end. Head Coach Terry Waters remains confident that the team will be ready come conference championships.

The Class of 2017 at Virginia’s oldest and smallest military school just racked up the most ROTC scholarships of all Mid-Atlantic JROTC programs. Although Fishburne Military School’s Class of 2017 consisted of only 44 students, they claimed the most ROTC Scholarships of any school in US Army JROTC’s 4th Brigade.

Fishburne Military School Swim Team Solid in Roanoke — Roanoke, VA — The Fishburne Military School Swim team traveled to Roanoke, Virginia last week to face a field of four teams. The Caissons went 3-1 by defeating North Cross, Faith Christian and Carlisle – falling only to Virginia Episcopal School.
