Capt. Dillon’s Images Before the Raider Meet from 11/7

Though the Raider Group is mentioned as a student activity, many do know that cadets learn much more than the various competitive events they attend. They also learn individual responsibility as well.

As the beginning of each Raider event, the leader is awakened in the early hours of the morning. It is his responsibility along with the team’s, part of their test if you will, for the team to get up, prepare, organize, and load their bus for their trip to this day’s competition.

These pictures detail those efforts from loading the bus to their final assembly before leaving for the 4th Brigade Raider Meet, held in Richmond Virginia, 07, November, 2009.

Upon awakening for this meet, I suggested a few pictures. This was debated because it was said in the past that a picture had ‘jinxed’ their competition. However, it was decided that since I was dressed in all green with an Irish surname, nothing could be luckier!

Though the later results of their competition brought home a trophy and streamer for a 1st Place in the 5K Road March in competition with some 40 teams, I feel it was the all team effort rather than their picture having been taken by a six foot plus Irishman that won the day!

It was truly their team effort under the training of their coach “Bam” Morton that brought them home as winners. Nonetheless I think we will be taking more photographs…just in case!

Congratulations Raiders for a job well done!
