Caissons Track and Field Wins Five Medals

Fishburne Military School Puts in Solid Performance at VIC Conference Meet

St. George, VA — The Fishburne Military School Caissons Track and Field Team traveled to Blue Ridge School for the Virginia Independent Conference (VIC) Meet on Saturday. The Caissons made a competitive showing, bringing home a gold medal, a silver medal and three bronze medals.

The Fishburne 4 x 800 team, made up of Douglas Marsh (Middlebrook, VA), Jason Bruinius (Charlotte, NC), Garrett Rose (Columbus, IN), and Elijah Jackson (Warsaw, VA) earned a gold medal for the Caissons.

Cadet Marcellus Brooks (Clinton, MD) won the silver medal for high jump, while Marsh earned a bronze in the 800 meters, and the 4×400 team brought home another bronze for their efforts.

Marsh and Brooks were the top-performing Caissons of the day, each bringing home three medals.

Fishburne Military School is the oldest and smallest of all military schools for boys in Virginia. Its college-prep curriculum is built on the structure of an Army JROTC program. FMS has been designated as a JROTC Honor Unit with Distinction and may nominate qualified candidates to the United States Service Academies. Fishburne hosts one of only four Summer JROTC programs in the nation that is accredited by US Army Cadet Command.
