Caissons Football Kicks Off Season vs. Roanoke Catholic

Caissons Relentlessly Work to Improve

Waynesboro, VA — Recap by Coach Goodnough — The Caissons put up a valiant effort versus the always playoff-bound Roanoke Catholic Celtics, but ultimately fell 62-8. The Caissons stayed positive and upbeat each during each down, picking each other up and helping each other on each drive. Some costly turnovers (5 fumbles) in the backfield and on special teams really hurt us. It will be our focus to rectify those mistakes before our battle with North Cross.

In the fourth Quarter, Tyler Derozen broke off a thirty-yard one, being tackled at the five. Two plays later on fourth down, Derozen was able to punch the ball in and was followed up by a two-point conversion run by Corey Ransom. Our defense made some really great stops in the second half, not allowing the Celtics to score for the rest of the game.

The Caissons understood the caliber team they played on Friday, but they accepted the challenge nonetheless. These young men never quit. Each time on the sideline after a hard fought drive, the offense kept talking about their next offensive drive and how they would be more successful. They never gave up and they never will. This game has set the tone for the rest of the season and I am excited to see what these gentlemen will accomplish through out the season.
