Caissons Finish Strong at Virginia Prep Duals
Fishburne Military School Wrestlers Finish Strong in Richmond, VA
Richmond, VA — The Fishburne Military School (Waynesboro, VA) Wrestling Team traveled to St. Christopher’s School for the Virginia Prep Duals over the weekend.
This competition draws the best-of-the-best in Virginia’s private schools and always promises intense, high-level competition. The Caissons faced some tough teams and dropped a few matches on Friday night. However, Coach Terry Waters’ resilient squad battled back on Saturday to take 6th place overall without their full roster. The Caissons gave up 24 points by not filling all of the weight classes, those points were the difference between sixth and third.
“Sixth place in this tournament is quite an accomplishment”, notes Fishburne Military School Athletics Directory, MAJ Bryan Greene (VA). Fishburne’s grapplers now set their sights on the VIC Championships at Virginia Episcopal School in Lynchburg, VA on February 10.
The Caissons have been the Conference Championship Runner-up for the last two seasons and are eager to improve on those finishes.
Fishburne Military School is the oldest and smallest of all military schools for boys in Virginia. Its college-prep curriculum is built on the structure of an Army JROTC program. FMS has been designated as a JROTC Honor Unit with Distinction and may nominate qualified candidates to the United States Service Academies. Fishburne hosts one of only four Summer JROTC programs in the nation that is accredited by US Army Cadet Command.
