Caisson Wrestlers Extend Conference Streak
recap from Cadet Bevan Morrison-Rodgers
Fishburne Military School’s wrestling team advanced their season’s undefeated streak by sweeping a conference quad meet last night. The evening brought a full-on battle between FMS, Blue Ridge, Covenant and Miller School.
The Caissons were traveling one man short (220 weight class) but worked to cover those six points with multiple wins against number one contenders. Fishburne defeated Blue Ridge 63-18, then Fishburne topped Covenant School 59-9, leaving only the last match against Miller School to complete a sweep.
The Caissons stepped up to beat Miller School 78-0.
Fishburne’s overall record now stands at 11-1 with an undefeated conference record of 3-0 . The Caissons will wrestle next at the News Virginian Invitational on Saturday hosted at Wilson Memorial.
Fishburne Military School is the oldest and smallest of all military schools for boys in Virginia. Its college-prep curriculum is built upon the structure of an Army JROTC program. Boasting a 100% college-acceptance rate for the past 10 consecutive years, FMS has also been designated as a JROTC Honor Unit with Distinction and may nominate qualified candidates to the United States Service Academics. Fishburne hosts one of only four Summer JROTC programs in the nation, accredited by US Army Cadet Command. For more information visit www.fishburne.org.
