The field warmed up with stretches and practice goal-kicks as The Fishburne Military School (FMS) Caissons prepared to play Liberty Christian Academy Bulldogs (LCA) on Tuesday.
Starting strong and juking, the Caissons battled from the outset. LCA made several attempts to score early but Fishburne held their ground well into the first half. LCA continued to fight for the ball and eventually scored, but the Caissons kept their composure showing that a goal would not stop them. Battalion Commander Harold McCoo led several charges down the field battling multiple players at once, in an effort to score.
Nearing the end of the first half, the Caissons gave up a second goal to LCA but still showed fight, promising to come back in the second half.
During the half-time break Coach Greene worked to motivate the team, telling them “We need to be more aggressive and get the ball down the field.”
The second half kicked off and the Caissons came out strong, battling as new team. LCA surged early, eventually scoring twice in the second half. Caisson goalkeeper, Anders Lenardson, stayed strong throughout the onslaught, blocking serval close calls.
Cadets Minho Cho and Min Chang Kang each showed their skills in helping Lenardson defend the net by kicking the ball out to mid-field. New Cadets and their Cadre, along with the football team, cheered the Caissons Soccer team on, building and gaining morale.
The Caissons keep battling through the second half, but sadly come short loosing LCA 4-0.
