Greetings Fishburne Family!

We have several excellent events coming up this week that you all should know about.

On Tuesday, November 10, 2009, at 3:30 pm we will honor Richard L. Meador ’58 during a Classroom Dedication Ceremony in the FMS Quadrangle. Margaret Meader, his wife, worked with Mrs. Susan Johnson to honor Richard’s passing by providing the funds for this tremendous gift. A reception will follow the ceremony with selected Cadets in the FMS Foyer.

On Wednesday, November 11, 2009, at 11:00am we will celebrate Veteran’s Day with a parade and Founder’s Day with a ceremony at Ridgeview Cemetary immediately following the program here at FMS. LTC William Coffin is the Commander of the 116th Brigande Combat Team, Virginia National Guard, from Staunton, Virginia.

If you are interested in LTC Coffin’s bio please email Ryan Catherwood (rcatherwood@fishburne.org).

On Saturday, November 14th, Hyde Leadership School will travel to Waynesboro to play the Caissons Football Team in the Capital Area Football Conference Championship game. Kickoff will be at 2:00pm.

Dear Parents… FMS Requests Your Comments!

I wanted to address two topics relevant to your engagement in all aspects of the Fishburne experience. Firstly, if you are reading this post it means you’ve found our blog. I hope you’re reading it often because I try to place content on The Fishburne Times-Connect several times a week. Since we started the blog in July we’ve steadily increased traffic to the site, and now we’re getting almost 300 visits per day, and have had over 10,000 visits over the last four months!

With that in mind, I would really like your help in producing content for everyone to enjoy and well as your participation in the “Parents’ Forum.” Make sure to leave comments! In speaking for everyone at FMS, please know that we are very interested in your stories. How did you come to the decision to send your son to Fishburne? What was it about Fishburne that you found most attractive? How has your son changed since you dropped him off here in Waynesboro?

PG Game Against Mack Academy – Press and Images

Fishburne coach Ed Huckaby hopes his team got a wake up call on Monday afternoon during its inaugural home game.

Mack Academy scored five 3 pointers in the second half, taking advantage of the tired Fishburne defense, to ruin the Caissons’ ribbon-cutting ceremony with a 99-81 win.

“We have 30 games and there is no doubt in my mind that we will win 24 or 25 of them,” Huckaby said. “No question in my mind. We took a butt whooping and that got everyone’s attention.”

Both the Mack and Fishburne programs are in their infancies.
